A friend of mine once thought that male birds inseminated eggs that female birds had lain by sitting on them in the nest, post-lay. Wonderfully uncomplicated. The whole process seemed a little too simple to believe. ReplyDeleteThanks Sue. The article sort of parallels this other side of smell/taste/sense perception that I've been meaning to go into after a recent conversation with a friend- the work of chef Grant Achatz of Chicago restaurant Alinea.
ReplyDeleteIt also brings to mind this documentary I saw a long time ago called The Saltmen of Tibet- a film chronicling a season in the life of salt 'harvesters'.
